It's a beautiful fall day, and I'm exploring the New York Central Adirondack Divison from Childwold Station to Tupper Lake. I begin by sharing some of the history and mystery surrounding Childwold Station, with the help of Grasse River Railroad expert Andy Estep. We relocate to the site of the Piercefield depot to film Extra 2042 North, Adirondack Railroad's inaugural High Peaks Limited, a one-of-a-kind train running from Utica to Tupper Lake, the longest scenic ride in the east.
We relocate to the Tupper Lake Station, where I'm joined by Josh Wingler of @NorthernNYTravelog. We watch the ADIX crew complete the runaround, discuss the future of the railroad's operations, and get a quick tour of the 2042 and the dome car before the departure.
We relocate once more to Childwold Station/Mount Arab Road to watch the train fly south, with RS18u 1845 leading long hood forward.
This marks the first time a Mohawk, Adirondack & Northern locomotive visited Tupper Lake.
