In today's video on the channel @misoo83, you will have the opportunity to see how a cherry tree is grafted, this is a thick and old rootstock of magrivia, which is approximately 10 years old. When grafting such thick substrates, we usually choose one of two methods, the first is grafting under the bark and the second is called grafting to the gap. Since it is difficult to split the rootstock in the middle, I chose a slightly different method of grafting and grafting the cherry to a double gap. Perhaps this method of grafting is not so familiar to you, but in this way it is easier to graft a thick substrate with four grafted twigs of the desired cherry variety. When we want to use grafting under the bark, the bark must be separated from the tree, and in this early period of the year, when the juices have just started in the plant, this is not possible. The generative substrate of magriva raseljka (Prunus mahaleb L.) is often used as a substrate for cherry grafting, this substrate tolerates dry, carbonaceous and less fertile soils well. It is also used as a substrate for cherry grafting. tolerates more lime (12-15%). The cherry varieties on it show less lushness (10-20%) than the wild cherry rootstock. Now there is also a clone of magriva SL 64 that can serve as a substitute for seedlings because it gives uniform offspring. In this video I showed you how you can graft a cherry yourself. on this substrate using the gap grafting method, this method of grafting is not difficult even for beginners and gives very good results. The materials I used for grafting are materials that we can all get. And I didn't use grafting wax, this way we have a little more work to do to protect the grafted joint, but the material costs us almost nothing. Before starting grafting, I disinfected all the tools with alcohol, which is one of the measures to prevent the spread of disease, especially if we are grafting a large number of different fruit trees that day. Split grafting belongs to the methods of fruit grafting, which is also called ripe grafting, and is performed in the spring. The grafted twigs were taken earlier when the vegetation was dormant and the grafting is done when the vegetation is slowly moving and warmer temperatures are coming.
