👋 Now with the legendary Audi R8 being discontinued and the new Lamborghini Temerario replacing the Huracan, is now the best time to buy a V10 supercar? The V10 has been around for around 20 years starting in the original Lamborghini Gallardo. Then when Audi introduced the V10 R8, they used their 5.2L V10 engine. Lamborghini then did the facelift Gallardo for 2009 and swapped their 5.0L V10 in favor of Audi's 5.2L. The Huracan and 2nd generation R8 also used the same 5.2L V10. Unfortunately with the end of the line for the Huracan came the end of the line for the Audi R8. The new car to replace this platform is the Temerario which has a twin turbo V8 hybrid powerplant. As an LP Gallardo owner, I absolutely love my car! The character the V10 offers is unmatched. There is so much character and soul to the engine and it just enhances the driving experience to be one of a kind! Today was also my first time driving the gated manual Audi R8 with the V10 engine. My brother has owned two V8 manual R8's and they are a blast. But it's cool to feel out the same power levels and smoothness that I'm used to in my E-Gear Gallardo. The R8 and Gallardo are very different even though they use the same platform and engine. Gallardo is much more raw and edgy feeling. While the R8 feels more like a GT sportscar. R8 is refined and ultra comfortable when the Gallardo beats you up a bit more. Personally I like sitting in the Gallardo better with it's lower roofline. The Lambo seats I actually like better. They are stiffer and you get a bit uncomfortable after 6 hours of driving. But they support my legs better and I just feel at home. The R8 needs an exhaust ASAP to really hear the character of the engine more. But the R8 and Gallardo are are pretty amazing V10 supercars that offer a special experience. Now that I have 5,000 miles under my belt in the LP550, I don't think I could sell it for anything other then another V10 car! Most likely I'd go V10 Performance R8 and then a Huracan EVO years later. The V10 is a special powerplant and the R8, Gallardo and Huracan are cars to buy while you can! You won't regret it!
