The Honda NSX is one of the most important sports cars of all time. It was the first production car to make use of an aluminum frame which was lighter and stiffer than that of the competition. The NSX also made use of VTEC technology. This made it an exceptional performer in both low and high-speed situations. This car's focus on ergonomics and livability set it apart from its contemporaries. Developing the NSX wasn't easy. The road from conception to production was rife with setbacks and roadblocks, but Honda never compromised on their vision. The NSX was a revelation when it was released in 1990 and its impact can still be felt in the automotive industry more than 15 years after its discontinuation. 0:00 INTRO 00:32 1989 CHICAGO AUTO SHOW 03:26 ORIGINS 08:21 PLANNING 16:02 DESIGN 21:52 ALUMINUM FRAME 30:49 SENNA/PROTOTYPING 35:29 VTEC/POWERTRAIN/FACTORY 43:52: MARKET INTRODUCTION 49:42 UPDATES/NSX-R/S/T 59:50 DECLINE/LEGACY ARTICLE www.barchetta.co/articles/honda-nsx SOURCES www.barchetta.co/nsx-sources
