She features twin keels and a Ljungström rig. Every design decision is made to keep her simple, strong, and watertight. In this episode I build a foil for the boat using a creative method I found which was reported to have the shortest construction time, resulting in a light and strong rudder, daggerboard, or whatever you are making. In my case I will shape this foil to fit the aft end of the bottom of the boat as a skeg. It will provide directional stability and will be built strong enough to hold the weight of the aft end of the boat if needed. The bottom plate of the foil is constructed of G-10, a high-pressure fiberglass laminate material. The foam I used is Loctite Tite Foam Big Gaps. It is a polyurethane-based, high density insulating foam sealant.
