The state of Ohio is addressing the dangers of severe weather their residents face. The Ohio Safe Room Rebate Program was started in 2012, and reimburses 75% of building costs back to the homeowner. More than 200 safe rooms have been built through the Ohio Safe Room Rebate Program, and are funded with more than $1.2 million from FEMA's Pre-Disaster Mitigation Grant Program. This funding makes it possible for homeowners to protect themselves against life-threatening weather events.
