Wait, is Omar Apollo a Queerty reader?
He certainly was familiar with our work when we sat down for a chat with the singer-songwriter to talk about his small but memorable role in #Queer!
That’s right, capping off one hell of a year—which included the release of his acclaimed sophomore album ‘God Said No’—Apollo makes his official acting debut in filmmaker Luca Guadagnino’s highly anticipated @queer_movie .
When the film premiered earlier this year at the Venice Film Festival, word quickly got out that Apollo leaves it *all* on the screen (to put it politely), but it turns out his scenes were almost even more explicit.
Still, as he tells Queerty, he would’ve be down for whatever Guadagnino asked of him, especially since he got to work opposite a legend like Daniel Craig. With ‘Queer’ now playing in select theaters (opening everywhere Dec. 13), we spoke to Apollo about his character’s star sign, what inspired his original song for the movie “Te Maldigo,” and so much more.
