Linoleic acid is the most abundant polyunsaturated fatty acid in Western diets. In vivo, it serves as a precursor to oxidized linoleic acid metabolites which have been shown to initiate inflammation in peripheral tissues. Little is known about the role of linoleic acid or its metabolites on the brain. This lecture will discuss recent studies from my laboratory on the metabolism and role of linoleic acid and its oxidized metabolites in the brain. Speaker: Dr. Ameer Taha Professor at UC Davis, Food Science and Technology
