Coming up next… The interview you’ve all been waiting for, for years. I finally got him. The Clown Prince of Music, the King of musical parody Weird Al Yankovic tells us about going from sending songs into the Dr Demento show to trying to get them played, to My Bologna, a song he recorded in a public restroom cuz the sound was so good… It would become one of the most requested songs on the radio and then as his career was starting, this virtual unknown got the #1 Legend in the world Michael Jackson to approve his song parody of Beat It called Eat It. He became an overnight sensation that has been a rite of passage for every generation… and he’s exactly as you’d think he is… The nicest guy in show biz. Up next we have an exclusive interview with Weird Al Yankovic and reactions from many of the artists he’d parodied in our exclusive next on Professor of Rock.

Hey music junkies Professor of Rock, always here to celebrate the greatest artists and songs of all time if you were a master UNO or Old Maid Card player back in your day, you’ll want to subscribe to this channel so you don’t miss an episode. I’m excited to bring you another landmark episode from our series Revelations- where featured artists reveal rare stories about their biggest songs, along with fascinating insight about their careers. On this installment, we have the king of musical comedy, the foremost satirist of pop culture and he plays a mean accordion Mr. Al Yankovic, otherwise known as Weird Al. I’ve been wanting to do this one for a while. Ya know, there are certain pop culture institutions that will forever be passed down to every generation until the end of time. I’m talking The Beatles, Mad Magazine, the original Star Wars, Saturday Night Live, the Simpsons, Seinfeld, rock and roll, Marvel and DC comics... Weird Al is definitely one of those. Weird Al is in an exclusive club of musicians who never need to worry about being forgotten by the coming generations because he’ll always be relevant… As the king of musical parody, he’s the only iconic artist I never had a chance to share with my own kids…because all four of them found him on their own… which is appropriate since Weird Al is truly a youthful rite of passage, but the deal is… he never goes out of style, no matter how old we get.

My introduction to Al was in 1984 when I heard Eat it for the first time. I begged my parents to take me to the mall 40 minutes away from my small town in Idaho to buy it, not to mention the many chores I had to do to earn the money to buy the record. It was one of my earliest musical purchases and one that my friends and I listened to and laughed about for days on end and that ritual would be repeated for pretty much every album or song by Al that came out after that. In the modern world of extreme divisiveness Weird Al brings us immeasurable laughter and joy… and to top it all off he’s a helluva nice guy. coming up it’s Al and the stories behind some of his greatest songs with special guest artists reacting to his parody on their actual songs including Huey Lewis, Devo, a past member of Survivor, and more.
