Welcome to Life in Wetland! Today marks Atham, the beginning of Kerala's grand harvest festival, Onam. On this auspicious day, people celebrate by decorating their homes with beautiful yellow flower arrangements called Pookkalam and offering prayers to Lord Vishnu.
In honor of this special day, I’m sharing two traditional Onam treats made with rice flour: Unniyappam and Avalose podi. Both recipes are prepared using raw rice flour and are perfect for celebrating the spirit of Onam.
🥮 Unniyappam: These delicious, sweet rice flour dumplings are deep-fried to golden perfection, offering a delightful blend of coconut, jaggery, and banana.
🍚 Avalose podi: A traditional Kerala snack, Avalose podi is a powdered roasted rice flour delicacy, often enjoyed with sugar or jaggery and coconut.
Join me as we prepare these delicious Onam festival recipes, perfect for celebrating the beginning of this joyous season. Don’t forget to like, share, and subscribe to our channel for more traditional Kerala recipes and cultural insights. Let’s cook and enjoy the flavors of Onam together! 🌿🌸🍚
