ONE WAY TO START AN ABSTRACT PAINTING / How to start an abstract painting when you have absolutely no idea what to do can be a challenge….so I came up with ten ways to help you get started.

On a 12x12” watercolor paper, I just fill the paper randomly with dots using a China marker, but you could use any pencil.
Then, using both oil pastels and paint, I create shapes guided by those dots.
This exercise could lead right away to a finished painting OR it could be a beginning first layer that you could finish with multiple layers.
