The start of the 2024 Fresh Season marked the 1 year anniversary of Kraken Royale being added to Splatoon 3, and in that year, it's garnered quite a reputation. Braindead, no skill, cheese, situational, niche, selfish, easily countered, these are all common superlatives Kraken is associated with.
As someone who has played the 96 gal for years in Splatoon 2, before the idea of Kraken returning to Splatoon was even considered, I can't help but take offense when people want to talk smack on a special they probably haven't used for more than 20 minutes. I didn't ask for my favorite weapon in Splatoon to get Kraken, but if no one else wants to give this special the time of day it deserves, I guess I'll pick up the slack and advocate for the special that no one wants to.
