In this lesson, you will learn how to perform order of operations using PEMDAS in math. PEMDAS means parenthesis, exponents, multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction in math. This is the proper order to calculate mathematical operations - hence it is called the order of operations. The first step is to identify any parenthesis in the expression. If there are parenthesis or brackets, do what is inside of those first. Next, perform exponents. Addition and subtraction are performed on the same level left to right. Multiplication and division are performed left to right as they are also on the same level.
