Origami has made a resurgence in popularity during the time of COVID-19 quarantine as a way to stay busy and quiet the mind. Its focus on careful, repetitive motions to create a thing of beauty can be a meditative experience. This origami tutorial by Yuki Martin of "Yuki Origami" focuses on a Water Lily & Lotus Flower, symbols of rebirth and enlightenment in many cultures.
Yuki Martin has been an instrumental part of Portland Japanese Garden's cultural festival experiences over many years. She is one of the rare Origami artists in the Pacific Northwest and has been providing workshops of varying sizes for many years, teaching Origami enthusiasts of all ages the joy of the art of Origami.
The video is further enriched by special music by Toshi Onizuka and Yumi Torimaru, both of whom are regular performers at Portland Japanese Garden.
