Orlando Valkyries VS Columbus Fury | HIGHLIGHTS | PVF 2025. The Orlando Valkyries [6-4] secure their fourth win in a row, taking down the Columbus Fury [1-8] 3-1 with set scores of 15-25, 26-24, 25-18 and 25-20.
Brittany Abercrombie led the Valkyries with 15 total points, tallying 15 kills, two blocks and 10 digs in the contest.
Set 1
Facing her former team, Wilma Rivera set the tone early with a service ace. Columbus came out strong defensively, jumping out to a 10-5 lead and really giving Orlando’s high flying offense fits, holding them to a .000 hitting percentage. The Fury maintained their defensive dominance, leading 17-13 while outpacing Orlando in digs, 20-12. Columbus would go on to close the set with an 8-2 run, securing a statement 25-15 victory. Raina Terry grabbed seven kills in the opening set.
Set 2
After falling behind 3-1 early, Orlando quickly turned it around with three consecutive points, with kills from Pornpun Guedpard and Courtney Schwan, along with a Kaz Brown block to take a 4-3 lead. The teams continued exchanging points, with Columbus up 16-14. The Valkyries would go on a 4-0 run, that started with a quick kill from reigning PVF Player of the Week Natalie Foster, followed by three consecutive Columbus errors, allowing Orlando to gain momentum late in the set. Holding a 24-21 advantage, Fury would make a late charge, coming out of a timeout and tying the score at 24-24. However, Orlando would respond, and claim set two 26-24 off an Adora Anae cut shot. Natalie Foster finished with six kills on a .714 hitting percentage.
Set 3
After a strong finish in set two, Orlando carried that momentum into the third, playing with more energy. With the score tied 6-6, the Valkyries caught fire, going on a 13-6 run, pulling ahead 19-12. During the run, Pornpun Guedpard would look to get everyone involved, as Brittany Abercrombie, Courtney Schwan, Adora Anae, and Kaz Brown each registering multiple kills. With their offense back to clicking on all cylinders with a .371 hitting percentage, Orlando secured its second consecutive set win, closing out the set 25-18. Brittany Abercrombie led the way with seven kills.
Set 4
Up two sets to one, the Valkyries climbed to a 9-6 lead. Much like the previous set, Orlando had their way, stringing together an 11-6 run to extend their lead to 20-12. Holding Columbus to a .105 hitting percentage and hitting .357 played a big part in grabbing their lead. With the Valkyries’ offense firing efficiently and their defense playing much better during their recent win streak, Orlando continues to show just how difficult they are to stop once they gain momentum. The Valkyries would take set four 25-20. Brittany Abercrombie finished set four with six kills.
The Valkyries are back in action at home on Saturday, February 15, against the Grand Rapids Rise at 7 p.m. at Addition Financial Arena.
