Rampaging creatures destroy a boy's town, leaving him as the solitary survivor. An armored man named Skeer notices the boy and consoles him as he grieves in hopelessness. Skeer soon senses the boy's potential to disrupt the status quo of the realm and names him his successor before dying away.
