In this episode, we are taking the garage to the next level - installing OSB (Oriented-Strand-Board) sheets for the interior walls. This was a huge point of contention between my Dad and I from the very inception of this project. We deliberated over Drywall, OSB, Particle Board, and Plywood for walls. This decision has been around since these materials have existed, and honestly, each and every option has its benefits and downfalls. These are things we considered with the interior walls: 1) Price 2) Strength/Durability of Material 3) Ease of installation 4) Aesthetic of the Finished Product The decision was quickly narrowed down to Drywall vs. OSB. Drywall hands-down wins the argument on aesthetic. You can tape and texture for perfect seamless walls. It is also the cheapest option by far. However, it is exhausting to install, and can quickly become "Swiss-cheese" in the harsh environment of a garage. Oriented Strand Board costs a little more and does not finish with perfect seamless walls. It is, however, incredibly durable and super easy to install. For us, the strength of the OSB won the argument. I ultimately agreed with Dad on something to further increase the strength of the walls and structure, as well as allow me to mount things anywhere on the walls. We faced the "textured press" side inward to be painted. We will also batten the seams with matching trim afterward. I have zero regrets about the OSB walls. These were so easy to install compared to hanging drywall and are incredibly durable. Load bearing items will still be anchored to studs, but general light-weight items can be screwed into the walls anywhere, now! Thanks for watching, and I hope you enjoy the video!
