We are trying to make our homestead as sustainable as possible. Wisconsin winters made that a little tricky! We would love to have our 3 Brown Swiss cows be completely grass fed, and we hope to transition to that by next winter. The hydroponic fodder system we built is successfully sprouting both barley and wheat grains. Greg discusses how he built the system, some of the mistakes we made in the building process ( and how we fixed them), a few of the benefits of fodder, and some of the cost savings.
