But during the winter months the population can swell from 250,000 to over 1 million people during peak times in January and February. Quartzsite is surrounded by Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land, offering inexpensive or free camping and has has become a gathering point for people in the nomadic lifestyle, including members of communities like those following Bob Wells and CheapRVLiving.”
