heads up: this is a VERY casual and slow playthrough with many, many parts.
my initial plan was to play the game for a few days, get passably good, then do a legitimate playthrough for uploading to yt but i severely underestimated the game.
after i failed to get enough silver to keep the lighthouse 5 times in a row i decided that yeah, i'd better record this. 6th try's the charm apparently. as of writing this ive been recording for a bit over 20 hours total with the goal of obtaining mana. oh yeah, this game has magic but you have to go unlock it. ive yet to see for myself but supposedly you have to sacrifice some of your other stats for mana so it seems i'll be even more of a glass canon.
ive had this game since my dad bought it for me around launch. something about the "you're just a human, not anything special" marketing really resonated with me at the time. sadly, i lacked both the skill/gamesense and the patience required to actually enjoy it at the time.
after becoming an adult and learning/growing so much ive really got a greater appreciation for these types of games.
i think this game is amazing, unlike other games you can't really rely on gear/stat progression and death isn't really a thing. even if you cheat in the best normally obtainable gear in the game you could still get steamrolled by some of the enemies right outside the starter town.
ive decided that rather than posting several 8-12 hour videos i'd split the raw recording into 10 min segments and upload 10-15 at a time and schedule the releases so i have a buffer. ive already got 68 of them ready for upload but i can only upload 15 at a time and have to manually publish every video through youtube's horribly optimized ui.
if someone is really pining for more and i abruptly stopped daily uploads try leaving a comment, it might get me to do it faster/restart the series if i see people are interested.
