Succulents store water in their leaves, stems and roots in order to survive the harsh, dry conditions they have to deal with in their native homelands. But, these days, succulents find themselves in cultivation, in peoples homes and gardens where water situation is not as dire. In fact, most succulents likely get a lot more water than they need. Succulents very probably get overwatered in most homes, but not all succulents react negatively to overwatering. Many will, in fact, be quite alright when watered too much. However, many will react badly to too much water and can start rotting, getting dark spots & warts or have their leaves split from lots of water being absorbed.
