The technological sophistication allows the Utopia Roadster to remain as light as the Coupé, stopping at 1,280 kg, an exceptional figure for a large Hypercar equipped with a V12 engine. A result obtained thanks to a completely redesigned monocoque to optimize stiffness and strength, without resorting to the heavy reinforcements generally required when removing the roof. Key objectives in the design of the Utopia were to obtain a low drag coefficient and significant aerodynamic downforce without resorting to protruding appendages. With this ambition, Pagani engineers conducted a meticulous study of air flows in the wind tunnel. The air is carefully guided and controlled through the wheel arches, channeled around the teardrop roof and along the sinuous flanks. It flows around the rearview mirrors, over the hood and up to the elliptical trailing edge, where two mobile wings, visible but harmoniously integrated into the design, help to further improve aerodynamics by adapting to different driving conditions. Even the internal air flows for cooling and intake are treated in the smallest details, contributing essentially to the performance and stability of the car. Since the beginning, Pagani Automobili has maintained its loyalty to the V12 engine and to the collaboration with Mercedes-AMG, initiated thanks to Juan Manuel Fangio, world champion with the German company and supporter of Horacio Pagani's pragmatic vision. This continuity has not hindered progress: the team has worked intensely on the version of the Pagani V12 destined for Utopia. It is a true jewel of mechanics, light and compact, created in close collaboration with the engineers of AMG, who take care of its exclusive production for the Italian Hypercar. Each engine is entirely assembled by a single craftsman, a true mechanical artist. The power of 864 horsepower, comparable to that of many racing engines, does not do full justice to the incredible versatility of this mechanics: capable of turning smoothly at low revs and providing explosive acceleration when the driver wants to experience the full power of the Pagani engine. The response of the turbos is immediate, also thanks to the prodigious torque of 1,100 Nm delivered in an extraordinary way. No heavy batteries, no hybrid system, just the wonderful roar of a V12. In collaboration with the British specialist Xtrac, Pagani has designed a transmission capable of handling the torque of the twin-turbo V12, while ensuring smooth and pleasant operation in all circumstances. Extremely compact and positioned transversely behind the engine, the seven-speed gearbox is connected to a lightweight and modulable three-plate clutch. The very high technology in the use of materials of the Utopia Roadster is not limited to carbon: even the metal parts are extraordinarily sophisticated. The eight suspension triangles, forged from aeronautical aluminum alloy, are designed to guarantee both resistance and lightness. The recent rebirth of Modena Design, a historic company owned by Pagani, today allows for total control of every aspect of the production of components in aluminum, titanium and special metals, from design to engineering to manufacturing with cutting-edge systems using the noble technique of solid milling. The Utopia Roadster offers extraordinary agility and exceptional cornering grip, guaranteeing an unparalleled driving sensation in every circumstance. The active suspension, combined with the electronic differential and dynamic control system, eliminate any tendency to understeer, while the electronic traction control ensures impeccable traction despite the influx of enormous power available. The Utopia Roadster offers surprising performance, while always remaining intuitive. Faithful to the Pagani philosophy, the driver never has to fight the car; it is an exciting and reassuring, obedient and exciting ally.
