In this webinar, Dr. Eric DePopas will discuss when you should be concerned about pain after back surgery and treatment strategies for pain that won't go away.
In the webinar, we will discuss the following:
- What is failed back surgery syndrome and why it occurs
- When surgery is needed and why it’s used
- When you should consider seeing a doctor for pain after back surgery
- The process for treating pain after back surgery
Failed Back Surgery Syndrome, or (FBSS), refers to patients who experience new or persistent pain after spinal surgery for back or leg pain. While most patients are led to believe that surgery will provide relief, the unfortunate reality is that for between 10-46% of patients, pain tends to persist.
This type of chronic pain has been linked to diminished quality of life, and if left untreated, is highly correlated with depression. Studies show that up to 85% of patients with chronic pain experience severe depression.
