In this Soft Pastel Tutorial I show how to paint a summer landscape with wild flowers. I also show how to paint trees with summer foliage and make them look realistic. Painting a field of flowers does not mean that we have to paint every single flower in it - in this video I'm showing how to simplify this summer scene, how to improve the composition by making some a few minor changes in the reference photo.
The demo is done on non sanded Canson paper, terracotta color, 9"x12". You can use toned sanded paper instead, and probably will enjoy it more since it's easier to get more layers on it, and the texture will work well in this type of landscape painting where the small detail is not important.
