Of the 40 countries I have been able to visit in my life so far, one trip stands out as a clear favorite - Pakistan - so fortunate actually to have even been there twice! No matter how much I love the place though, its fair to say that this is not an easy destination to reach, I have no idea how or why I will ever get there again...
Imagine our surprise today walking through Tanah Rata in the highlands of Malaysia to see the unmistakable shape of this North-Western Pakistani circular deep-fryer AND some super friendly and smiling guys inviting us to share a feast for lunch. Incredible!
Joyful meals and warm receptions were a daily situation in Pakistan, and this meal is absolutely proof of the fact that the people of Pakistan are some of the most hospitable in the whole world. Making a home away from home right here in Central Malaysia, these Pashtun families are cooking some spectacular food at "Mama Rich."
