In this video, we feature Verama Basdeo of the Parika Sea Dam, East Bank Essequibo. Her daily struggles continue, as she face flooding during the spring tide and rainy weather. The area does not have electricity, water and good road. She received the title for her house lot and desperately wants to remove from the depressed community. But she does not have enough money to build her house. She’s work very hard by making food items to save the money. When we first spoke to Verama, she wanted to set up a business but could not afford it. Through our show, she got the help to set up her business, selling Venezuelan food and she also takes orders. We also spoke to Ramesh Takah, who is diabetic and had lost his toes. He almost lost his vision but it was corrected after he had a surgery done in Suriname. We’ll also show you various parts of the sea dam.
