The scale of the Park Bridge towering over the Kicking Horse River is impressive. Near Golden, BC, this stretch of Highway 1 was treacherous and often closed due to rockfall and avalanches, and now has been improved to 4 lanes and a speed limit of 100 km/hr. The total span of the bridge is 405m or 1329 feet, at a max height of 90m or 300 feet. Transportation over the Kicking Horse Pass has a history dating back over 140 years, when it was first chosen by Canadian Pacific for the railway route.
