যমুনা বাংলাদেশের দ্বিতীয় বৃহত্তম নদী এবং বিশ্বের বৃহত্তম নদীগুলির মধ্যে একটি । নদীটি তিব্বত, চীন, ভারত এবং বাংলাদেশের মধ্য দিয়ে প্রবাহিত হয়েছে । যমুনা নদীর দৈর্ঘ্য ২০৫ কি মি এবং প্রস্থ ৩ কি মি থেকে ২০ কি মি পর্যন্ত পরিবর্তিত হয় তবে গড় প্রস্থ প্রায় ১০ কি মি। প্রকৃতপক্ষে যমুনা হল ব্রহ্মপুত্রের নিম্ন স্রোতধারা যা ১৭৮২ থেকে ১৭৮৭ সালের মধ্যে সংঘটিত ভূমিকম্প এবং বিপর্যয়কর বন্যার ফলে সৃষ্টি হয়েছিল। যমুনা নদী একেক সময় একেক রকম সৌন্দর্যের পসরা নিয়ে প্রকৃতি প্রেমিদের মুগ্ধ করে। শুষ্ক মৌসুমের রুক্ষতা,বর্ষার ভয়াবহতা আর ভোরের সূর্য উদয়ের কোমলতা অপূর্ব সৌন্দর্যের মূর্ছনা ছড়িয়ে দেয়।
One of the biggest rivers in the world and the second largest in Bangladesh is the Jamuna. The river traverses Bangladesh, India, China, and Tibet. The Jamuna River is 205 kilometres long and has an average width of about 10 kilometres, with variations between 3 and 20 kilometres in breadth. The Jamuna is the lower course of the Brahmaputra, which was formed in 1782–1787 because of earthquakes and catastrophic floods. The Jamuna River enthrals nature enthusiasts with its varied beauty at different times. The intensity of the monsoon, the roughness of the dry season, and the gentleness of the dawn produce an amazing display of beauty.
