Penn State dropped its second heartbreaker in as many weeks. This one, at the hands of the visiting Wolverines. Michigan jumped out to lead on the scoreboard first. Then a dazzling punt return by Bruce Branch revitalized the Nittany Lions who couldn't run the ball offensively to save their lives. Low and behold, the Blue and White played well enough to hold a 10-point lead in the forth quarter. Then enter Tom Brady, and his masterfulness of quarterbacking. Despite the loss, this was a heck of a game to watch, as it featured a legendary match-up of Lavar Arrington and Courtney Brown versus the all-timer in Brady. And there were great plays made throughout, by both teams.

***This video ends after Michigan scores in the 4th to make it a 3-point Penn State lead. The footage we had cut out at that time so no need to live through the game-winning TD pass by Brady at the end ;-)

Penn State dropped to an 9-2 record with the loss, and 16th ranked Michigan acquired its 8th win of the year to go along with 2 losses. The Wolverines finished 1999 with a 10-2 record and a win in the Orange Bowl against Alabama. They would end up as the 5th ranked team in the country in the AP poll.
