January 15th 1965 was the date inscribed in the cab of an Avonside Tank, built in 1933 to Works No. 2066, known as Ogwen. as to being the last day a steam engine worked at the Penrhyn slate Quarry at Bethesda in North Wales. The Apedale Railway pay homage to the occassion by holding a steam up event. Supporting Ogwen is Kerr Stuart tank Stanhope. This engine had also worked at the quarry.
