Setelah mengamankan pangkalan utama Jepang di Rabaul, Jenderal Macrathur hanya perlu menumpas sisa-sisa Jepang di New Guinea. Untuk mendapatkan supremasinya di New Guinea, Macarthur tidak dengan melancarkan Island Hopping atau menguasai pulai demi pulau. Dia berencana akan melancarkan strategi leapfrogging atau lompat katak. Yakni melompat dari satu pulau ke pulau lainnya di New Guinea.
Jayapura, Wakde, Numfor, Biak, dan kemudian pulau Morotai. Inilah Perang dunia di Papua Nugini, episode 16 sejarah Jepang dalam series perang Pasifik. Bukan hanya mengenai peperangan dan strategi.
