Percy Grainger, born in Melbourne, Australia 1882, was a pianist, composer and arranger of genius. Most famous for composing 'Country Gardens', Grainger also collected and arranged many folk songs. Greatly admired by Britten and Grieg - this program has several examples of Grainger playing including the final movement Chopin's Piano Sonata No.3 Op. 58 and of course him playing his most famous composition, Country Gardens.
