In late October 2024, Pere Marquette 1225 made a pair of autumn color excursions over the Great Lakes Central Railroad from Mount Pleasant to Cadillac, Michigan through the last of the falling leaves. In this video we follow the 1941 Lima Berkshire Northbound, beginning before dawn as the train leaves the Steam Railroading Institute's Owosso campus, deadheading North to Mount Pleasant as the sun rises over the Michigan farmland. After picking up the passengers, the "Cadillac Limited" ran through the thick forests and gently rolling hills of Northern Michigan before arriving at the former Ann Arbor Railroad depot along the shore of Lake Cadillac. Unfortunately, the wye in Cadillac is out of service, so a diesel locomotive was required to lead the Southbound journey. Still, it was a fantastic day of chasing and a great introduction to an engine that I've wanted to see for years now.
