Chrysler big blocks have always been excellent engines. Even the low compression, lower power 70s units generally deliver mounds of torque, and sufficiently move trucks, RVs, and cars like this one down the road without issue. However, to get the full effect, you really need all 8 cylinders to be at the party - and today's subject doesn't have them anymore. This 1971 Plymouth Road Runner has recently had a complete front suspension overhaul and restoration (to delete an inadequate aftermarket suspension and steering setup.) Although it never ran incredibly well before, it has since gotten much worse. The car barely runs, pops out of the carburetor, and makes all kinds of terrible ignition related noises. Let's dig in and see if we can get to the bottom of this issue.
