Yes, I am Scrolling on my phone. Today most of us feel unhappy or tired all day and the important factor that is causing all this havoc and mayhem is endlessly scrolling through the apps on the phone. Two years back, no one talked or thought about it. All they spoke was about the usefulness of the apps, social connectivity, and social media. Only the positives were highlighted. But there are a few negative aspects which have to be spoken now. Mainly our mental and physical health is affected because of mindless scrolling. Now there’s a buzz going around and it's called doom scrolling. People are searching for negative news and scrolling one after the other. Generally, our mind is tuned to focus much faster on the negative aspects. We have a part called prefrontal cortex in our brain. To simply say, when we come across a piece of negative news we tend to scroll and search for more such negative aspects. I have seen a lot of people. It may seem just like a few mins but they would have scrolled for hours together. Finally, nothing is gained but only time and energy are lost. An unexplainable energy drain has happened. In the recent past, if people are asked what the reason is for them to feel exhausted they do not have the clarity to tell them hey they feel that way. So much impact is generated just due to scrolling WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook & other apps. There are so many good things to see and share. If you want your life to be good, you have to take responsibility. We should be the ones that decide what goes into our minds. Start seeing good things online. Social media is amazing. You can make use of social media to make your life productive. There are so many good things out there. You can learn how to change and uplift your life. My opinion is that we all start seeing good things from now on. I'll tell you some simple tips. Morning and evening, have a habit of scrolling for only 20-30 mins. Don’t get hooked to your phones whenever you are bored. There is a science behind social media addiction. We have a hormone called dopamine in our body. It is a pleasure generating neurotransmitter. It gives us instant happiness. When you search and scroll through such posts, a dopamine reaction is triggered giving us a false feeling of instant gratification. It makes us think we have done something productive. But the truth is you have only wasted your time. Due to this, an unexplainable brain drain happens. You will not know why you have been losing so much energy in the first place. You would not have done any much physical activity, yet you feel tired and exhausted. The second is due to the fact that we are connected online, real relationships are taking a toll which leads to depression at a great level. Even though you are connected with your social media, try to talk to at least two of your friends over the phone every day. That’s important. Virtual connectivity is important these days, but it cannot replace real connectivity. And as I told you before, when you wake up in the morning, at least for the first one hour, don’t use your cell phone. Same way, don’t use your phones one hour prior to bedtime. This is my kind request. Because of this habit, there are hundreds of mental and health disorders happening and we can talk about it for hours together. So, the point is, don’t waste your time scrolling unwanted things. Make use of it the right way. Don’t spoil your health because of scrolling. See things that make you happy. Scrolling through entertainment is fine. Don’t try to get answers for unreal, negative things on social media. It’s becoming an unknown habit for unhappiness.
