Pinging, Detonation, Pre-ignition Problem Solved. Was it a lean condition, bad fuel, wrong timing?
Lets go through the reasons that causes pinging. Use some simple methods of deductive reasoning to narrow down the cause and ultimately fix it. I know that i should be able to run 12 degrees of timing but have only been able to do about 5 or 6 degrees. Ill share with you what it was and how i fixed it.
Was it?
overheating
bad timing setting
broken distributor
wrong spark plugs
bad fuel
wrong octane
lean condition from improper carb settings
lean condition from vacuum leaks
lean conditions from a fuel restriction
Well i fixed it and now this car is cranking out more power, idles better, and isnt falling on its face at wide open throttle.
