In today’s video, I’m gonna give you my MM plumbers Pipe bending master class!
The reason why I decided to make this video was because it was frequently asked in the comment section to give a bit more description on how to bend copper pipe either if you’re a beginner or you want to learn a few more skills on any part of your Plumbing journey.
There are two types of pipe benders out there you got your traditional scissor bender which has 15 and 22 mm but the one that I like and if you see a lot of the videos is made by a company called Monument tools. The main advantage of this bender is that you don’t have a former to lose and everything is all in line with the handles so it’s really easy to get your Ben straight. You can bend in place if the pipework got space for it and the markings on them allow you to get your bend more accurate.
So there are four types of bands that I believe are the most popular and the more we do and see in our day-to-day Plumbing life . The first one would just be a 90° end and instead of just showing you how to bend a 90° I thought I would give you a little tip on how to bend your pipe to a specific mark.
The 70 mm measurement does also work on your standard bender, not just the Monument one .
The second band is a set and there are different ways of doing this. You can start by just bending small increments and then upsizing to get the right distance that you want or there is a formula that we can use a new times the distance that’s required by a certain number depending on the angle that you’re going to achieve.
The next bend is my favourite and that is a full crossover so if you’ve got a pipe that’s in your way you could jump over the top and I’ve worked out a nice little formula especially with the Monument vendors where you can produce this superfast in three motions and two measures. You start by measuring the centre and a measure back 40 mm and 50 mm in front then your first bend on the first mark at 60° and then with the two left markers you’ve got either side of that one if you bend at 30 on each one, you should get the bend perfectly square.
The last band is the same as a full cross but it’s just one step less so continue to do your two measurements a 60 and a 30 and cut off the last one to suit if you want it a bit more tighter then just bend that 60° around more and adjust a 30 mm bends to get it right.
Hopefully you can take a little bit from this video. I’ll be back with a normal day-to-day video next but I thought I would create this one as it was frequently asked in a comment section. I really appreciate you watching the videos. Please make sure that you can give it alike as it really helps the channel subscribe if you knew comment down below if there’s any methods at a different to yours and I’ll see you on the next one.
