1. COVER
Picture of me, and my older cousin. The picture was taken by my younger cousin. When I saw the picture I knew I had to use it for the cover. It just struck me as really poignant. Just a bit further is Pismo Beach. You can't really see the sea, and there's just this feeling of loneliness, or something. Not sure what it is. There was no moon in the original one, so I had to edit it in unfortunately.
2. RIVER
The ditch I walk past everyday on my way to school, when it was filled with water last spring I believe. It's the same one seen on Volume 1 of Intentionally or Not.
3. AIRSHIP
Me, and my friends are working on story of sorts called The Airship, and I have a whole bunch of music I've yet to release for it. Black Rainbows always struck me as just having this sort of adventurous feel.
4. SKELETONS
I saw this at a mall one time. I just thought it pretty funny, and fit with the themes of the song. What with imagery of our lovers dancing towards the afterlife. All the ad-libs in the song are taken from me, and my friends goofing around. The "Right!" soundbite is taken from the Pokemon anime Season 21 Episode 8, a reference I will explain more when I get to SPACE-STATION LEVEL 7's vignette.
5. BURNT TREE
Every new year's eve, me and my family go over to our friend's house for celebration. Every year, their family does a big bonfire were they burn a bunch of branches, cardboard boxes, and their old Christmas Tree since they get a real one each year. I took a few pictures of them trying to light it on fire, and it really reminded me of Murders. The moon looming overhead. It knows what you did. It sees, and has seen all.
6. ALOLA
Pokemon Sun & Moon have always been my favorite Pokemon games. Pokemon Moon was the first real game I got for my 3DS after I got it for Christmas. With region it takes place in, Alola, being heavily based off of Hawaii, I knew I had to reference it somehow. That's where the "Right!" soundbite comes from. It's taken from the Pokemon TV show's adaptation of the games when Ash is trying to comfort the character Lillie after her mom was taken by an Ultra Beast to another dimension. Always fitting how Hawaii, in whatever form it takes ends up having connection to the cosmos in fiction.
7. THOMAS COLE
This is the painting "The Architect's Dream" by the painter Thomas Cole. I don't have any particular reason why I picked this painting. I do a lot of browsing on wikipedia, and I stumble across things that I find cool. In the original version of the art I had for The Mind Electric I edited in a giant black hole, looming in for destruction to really emprise the "All mine towers crumble down" because of their falling "inside a hole you couldn't see". Fun Fact! It's pretty much impossible to see a black hole without the accretion disc with the human eye. It's a literal "hole you couldn't see". I like to think that second version of the art is taken from inside the black hole.
8. DISPLACED
I'll admit, this is the laziest of the vignettes. I don't have much to say, bit that it was really hard to find a picture for this song. Like yeah, you could just find a picture of a maze, but I don't really have anything of the sort. So, I just made a amateur pixel art of the Hawaii Part: II schtick, and applied a bunch of effects. At least I'm honest enough to admit my short comings... I hope.
9. CLOCK TOWER
This is a cool clock tower in San Luis Obispo. It says "Spend time with the people you love". I think easy to often take the time we have with people for granted, and we don't know what we have until it's gone. Time is limited, and we don't all have a time machine to go back and back again to continue living the same ideal time over and over. Savor the uneventful. Spend time with the people you love.
10. STRANDED
That's a drawing of my Intentionally or Not Character, Gareth. He's something of a self-insert (not the annoying way... I hope [I'll write the story someday! Once I have all the music done!]). I was tracing out a picture I made to draw using a projector.
11. NEW YEARS
View of my friend's house at New Years. See BURNT TREE Desc...
12. SCHOOL'S OUT
Sometime when school was about to end, I but put on Dream Sweet in Sea Major to end right as the school bell rings. Variations would play next of course. This song never held as much negative meaning to me despite what it's actually about. I especially love the live version of the song featuring Jump by Van Halen, and Imagine by John Lennon. The two make for a real motivational message that you can always pick yourself up from a negative situation because you're strong, and you've survived worse. We all have. Can't you see what I mean?
