PixInsight SpectroPhotometric Color Calibration: Part 1 (Astrometry)

SPCC is a new color calibration method in PixInsight that raises the bar in accuracy and precision. It uses astonishing stellar multitudes (more than a billion stars) for astrometric solutions as well as the spectral signatures of stars through the GAIA archive for remarkable color calibration.

This first video highlights the reasons the astrometry is a necessary part of the workflow. Part 2 focuses exclusively on SPCC and how it works.

Errata: At 28:00 I compare the astrometric solution to the WCS. Apparently these are two separate things. PixInsight's solution is more precise than a WCS.
