The discourse surrounding this game had me coming in with relatively low expectations, but this game blew those expectations out of the water for me. Over 20 years after its release, Doom 3 holds up incredibly well and deserves a ton of respect if you ask me. While I am beyond thrilled with the direction that the franchise has gone with Doom 2016 and Eternal, I am happy that this horror-focused detour exists.
