Notes to refer to!
1. Protection
• Just as the blood of the lamb in Exodus 12 protected the Israelites during the Passover, pleading the blood of Jesus is often seen as a way to claim divine protection against harm, evil, or spiritual attack.
2. Forgiveness of Sins
• The blood of Jesus is central to the forgiveness of sins (Ephesians 1:7; 1 John 1:7). By pleading His blood, believers affirm their cleansing from sin and restoration to right standing with God.
3. Victory Over Satan
• Revelation 12:11 declares that believers “overcame him [Satan] by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.” Pleading the blood is seen as a declaration of victory over the enemy and his schemes.
4. Healing
• Isaiah 53:5 mentions that “by His wounds we are healed.” Many Christians believe that claiming the blood of Jesus can bring physical, emotional, and spiritual healing.
5. Deliverance
• The blood of Jesus is often invoked for deliverance from spiritual oppression, bondage, or strongholds, affirming the believer’s freedom in Christ.
6. Covenant Relationship with God
• The blood of Jesus establishes a new covenant between God and humanity (Luke 22:20; Hebrews 9:14-15). Pleading His blood is an affirmation of this covenant and its promises.
7. Access to God’s Presence
• Through the blood of Jesus, believers have bold access to God’s throne of grace (Hebrews 10:19-22), enabling them to approach God confidently in prayer and worship.
8. Sanctification
• The blood of Jesus cleanses and sanctifies believers, enabling them to live holy lives (Hebrews 13:12).
9. Peace and Reconciliation
• Colossians 1:20 teaches that Jesus’ blood brings peace and reconciles us to God, giving believers confidence and assurance in their relationship with Him.
How to Apply This in Prayer:
When Christians “plead the blood of Jesus,” they typically do so by affirming His work on the cross and declaring its power in their lives. For example:
• “I plead the blood of Jesus over my family for protection.”
• “I claim the blood of Jesus for healing in my body.”
• “By the blood of Jesus, I declare victory over fear and oppression.”
This practice serves as a reminder of the believer’s reliance on Jesus’ finished work and the transformative power of His sacrifice.
