As part of my current series of paintings based along the Fal River in Cornwall, I thought I would do some plein air oil painting at Restronguet Weir. I found a nice little beach to set up my easel and painted the view looking towards the village of Penpol.
The light was dull but it was very calm and a real pleasure to be painting at such a lovely location.
I did a follow up session on the canvas in the studio (which I filmed) to enhance the painting - let me know what you think!
Colours used in the painting:
Titanium White
Lemon Yellow
Magenta
Cadmium Red
Raw Sienna
Raw Umber
Ultramarine Blue
Manganese Blue
Ivory Black
I used a home made oil painting medium consisting of equal parts - Linseed Stand Oil, Turpentine and Damar Varnish. I painted onto a 14" x 10" canvas that was primed with a yellow alkyd oil paint.
