In September of 2024 my wife and I ventured to France for me to take a workshop with British artist Julian Merrow-Smith in a beautiful corner of Provence.
I had intended to make a more refined video documenting everything, but I decided it would be too much of a distraction for myself and other participants. So, I apologize if this video doesn't meet expectations of a full on travel documentary.
As for the workshop, it goes without saying that Julian is a modern master and I enjoyed his laid back attitude. Perhaps some would want more, but I was quite happy to just be there and painting alongside him and my fellow artists. He painted numerous demos throughout the week for those taking notes.
If you are ever thinking of taking a workshop in Provence with Julian, I wholeheartedly say go for it. Everything is provided, all of your painting supplies, luxurious accommodations, a beautiful setting, and what can I say about our chef, Ellie, who made amazing lunches, dinners, and desserts the whole week.
