PLEIN AIR PAINTING with oils - Rinsey Cove CORNWALL
It was a June evening and I thought it would be fun to do some oil painting en plein air at Rinsey Cove in Cornwall. It's not too far from home and was a calm evening. There was a large surf that was attracting some hardy surfers into the water.
I was using my Jullian French easel and a small 10" x 8" plywood panel that I had gessoed ready for the oils.
This was a very challenging plein air painting as the light was so flat with no real contrast. I painted quite thickly in an alla prima technique to build up some texture.
My palette for this one included:
Titanium white
Lemon Yellow
Cadmium Yellow
Cadmium Red
Magenta
Cobalt Blue
Ultramarine Blue
Indian Red
Naples Yellow
Violet
Ivory Black
