Plow extra! Conway Scenic plows the Mountain Division - Crawford Notch, NH - 2/17/2025
On 2/17/2025 the Conway Scenic Railroad pulled out the Russell snow plow to clear the line to Crawford Notch. This line is the former Maine Central Mountain Division that was restored to operation by the Conway Scenic Railroad a decade after i originally closed. Now the line is seeing its first winter operation since that restoration which requires the use o the snow plow ahead of scheduled trains. In this case the plow was pulled out to clear up for the next day's "Winter in Crawfords" snow train. We follow the train from North Conway to Crawford Notch and back to Intervale. On this day they used both former Maine Central GP38's which are the engines that originally ran here from the 60's into the 1980's. The plow was built for the Central Vermont and spent some time on the Lamoille Valley Railroad before landing at the Conway Scenic. I believe this season was the first time this plow has seen any regular use since it arrived on property as moves with it have been few and far. More footage of the Conway Scenic will be coming out soon so stay tuned!
