Prepping for Winter on Our Alaskan Homestead | Chainsaw Filing & Sourdough Pizza

This week on the homestead we are getting through the rest of our firewood! About 5 cords hauled from the forest around the cabin need to be bucked up and ready to split before negative temps hit. We made a bonfire, whipped up some homemade marshmallows, and a few pizzas to cap the day after exploring a few trails around the homestead. Recipes below! Thank you for following along on our homestead journey on the last frontier! -Amy & Dennis filmed at our cabin on the fringes Sourdough Pizza Crust -1/2 C active starter -1 C water -2 tsp salt mix all well to incorporate -4 C flour mix to form a shaggy dough 1. Let sit 1-1.5 Hrs, then do first stretch and fold. 2. Do another 2-3 stretch and folds at 1/2 he periods. After 4-10 hrs, shape into ball. cut into 4. shape into balls. 3. Refrigerate 3-6 hours, or overnight. Let sit at room temp 15 min. Stretch, top & bake! Homemade Marshmallows -1/3 C cold water -4 tbsp grassfed collagen powder -1/2-3/4 C raw honey or maple syrup -1/2 tsp unrefined salt -1 tsp extract, vanilla or peppermint 1.Sprinkle collagen over water and let bloom. bring to a gentle simmer. 2. Mix sweetener, salt, vanilla. Slowly stream in water/collagen mixture. Whip on high for 15 min until doubled in size or stiff peaks form. 3. Grease a pan (coconut oil works well), and pour marshmallows in. Let set 3-6 hours in fridge. Cut & enjoy!
