Just before the trial was set to begin, Prince Harry settled his longstanding privacy invasion lawsuit against Rupert Murdoch's U.K. tabloids on Wednesday.
Prince Harry’s lawyer, David Sherborne, confirmed the news after the Duke of Sussex accepted damages and a “full and unequivocal” apology from News Group Newspapers. The organization hacked Prince Harry’s phone and committed other unlawful acts of “serious intrusion” for years.
News Group has also apologized for intruding into the private life of Prince Harry's late mother, Princess Diana.
Speaking to media, Sherborne called Wednesday’s settlement a “monumental victory.”
