The Auburn City Council met last night at Memorial City Hall, beginning with ceremonial presentations at 5:00 p.m. Mayor Jimmy Giannettino, Jr. issued a proclamation recognizing February as Black History Month and honored the Zonta Club’s 100th anniversary of service. During the session, the council held a public hearing regarding the city’s application for Community Development Block Grant funding for 2025-2026, which will support housing and infrastructure projects over the next four years. Key resolutions included approving the sale of tax-foreclosed properties on Venice Street, Derby Avenue, and Lansing Street to Housing Visions Consultants, Inc., with extensive renovation requirements by 2027. The council also appointed a new Human Rights Commission member and received updates on various community initiatives. The meeting concluded with staff presentations on the city’s 2025-2029 CDBG Consolidated Plan and a discussion of additional business.
