At our July 18, 2024 program, we spoke to a panel of experts about American outlaws whose exploits earned them celebrity status during the early 1930s, including John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson and George “Machine Gun” Kelly. In response, FBI director J. Edgar Hoover transformed his mild-mannered investigative agency into a relentless gun-toting force determined to take down these “public enemies.”
