I headed down south for my last duck trip of the year in hopes of finding some ducks in public land flooded timber. There was a lot of ice around the first couple days which kept the ducks out of the woods but once the thaw started the mallards got back in the trees in good numbers and I was able to find a little hole off the side of a creek that I thought I would have all to myself. After making the long walk to the spot I found out that the mallards had been roosting in this area but decided to setup in the hole anyway in the hope that they would trickle back in throughout the morning. I ended up getting a strong morning flight with a mix of mallards, gadwall, and woodies working my patch of trees but struggled to get them to commit all the way into the hole. With some decent shooting though I was able to pick off a nice mixed bag of drakes in a really special spot. Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy!
